Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Plan

Earlier this year, the Fairview Middle and High School SBDM Council created a CIA Ad-hock Committee and charged the committee with focusing on the development of a CIA (curriculum, instruction, and assessment) Plan for the 2019/2020 SY.

You will see in the attached plan, approved yesterday by the CIA Committee, an intentional focus on more balance between teacher led instruction/collaborative group work and student directed learning on the chrome book. This has been a valid concern voiced from students, parents, and teachers in this first year of implementation.

Due to our district's small size and advancements in technology with the one-on-one chrome book initiative for students, we are fortunate to be able to implement a personalized learning option for students, including the many online resources and materials available to our students as a tool for learning. This is truly an asset for our district and a plan must be implemented to use this asset to create successful student outcomes! The vision for more balance is outlined in the attached plan. The balanced approach will not only allow for personalized learning in the 21st Century, but also the balance teacher-led instruction and collaborative work add to give our students the highest quality educational opportunities available.

As valued stakeholders of the Fairview Independent School District, thank you for your commitment to our #FutureFocused district.
