Fairview Middle/High School Temporary Remote Instruction Days December 7 and December 8

Fairview Families,

As the COVID positivity rate continues to increase across the state following the Thanksgiving holiday, we are experiencing our greatest staffing shortage this school year with several unexpected staff quarantines occurring overnight.

Today, December 7, 2021 and tomorrow, December 8, 2021, will be Temporary Remote Instruction Days for Middle School and High School students (grades 6-12) ONLY.

Fairview Elementary School will have in-person instruction today and tomorrow as usual. Tomorrow is a scheduled early release day.

The switch to Temporary Remote Instruction at FMS/FHS will allow us the staffing necessary to continue to have elementary students in-person today and tomorrow.

Guidance received by school districts defines remote instruction as a method of instruction where teachers and staff facilitate learning for students through digital and non-digital strategies while students are in a location other than the school – likely from home – and where students and instructors are not physically present together in a traditional in-person setting, such as a classroom.

Students will have instructional assignments uploaded by their teachers in their Google classrooms today and tomorrow morning. Students are not required to meet with teachers online, however they must access their Google classrooms each day, complete their assignments on that day, and submit their work on that day in order to be counted present for attendance. Students who do not access, complete, and submit their work today and tomorrow will be counted absent for the day. This attendance change is specifically required as a result of SB 1. Students should contact their teacher if they need support or assistance in completing their assignments.

We understand this situation is challenging for our students and families. Our district is not alone in having to make the switch to temporary remote instruction and will continue to plan to only use this option when necessary. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

Thank you!
