This post includes communication of multiple items of interest.
School is cancelled for the remainder of this week, Wednesday, February 17, 2021 through Friday, February 19, 2021.
Due to challenges of this winter storm and almost 70% of Boyd County residents currently without power, it is best that the rest of this week not be Asynchronous Learning/NTI Days.
The three days are required to be make-up days in our calendar and it is our goal to maximize learning outcomes with this time. In an effort to not extend the last day in our calendar beyond June 10, 2021, the three days this week will be made up as Asynchronous/NTI days during spring break. The decision to makeup days during spring break is never an appreciated decision, but it is the best decision considering all involved and what is best for our students. In consideration of the best approach to this situation, the makeup days during spring break will not be in-person days for students and students will not be required to attend online instruction during spring break. Students will have project-based learning assignments equivalent to the three days being made up from the cancelled days this week. Students will receive the work in advance of spring break, on or before March 15, 2021 to allow time and assistance from teachers if needed to complete the project-based assignments. The due date for the assignments will be Monday after spring break.
Next Friday, February 26, 2021, will be an Asynchronous Learning/NTI day in our calendar. Our educators who are taking the COVID-19 vaccine will receive their second dosage.
Later this week, we will announce the plan for increased in-person instruction weekly for students. We will continue enrollment as it is currently for students enrolled in virtual learning. As always, the option to change your child's enrollment is available by contacting the school. The plan for increased in-person attendance will start the week of March 1, 2021. More information will come out before Monday to give our parents/families a week notice as we finalize details.
We know this winter storm is causing challenges on top of challenges and we're here for you. Thank you for your continued flexibility, understanding, and teamwork. #TeamFairview #FutureFocused
