Senior Celebration Rescheduled for May 27, 2020

Unfortunately the weather will not hold out for us to have this event tomorrow as scheduled. With the forecast being rain for the remainder of the week, it has been rescheduled for next Wednesday, May 27, 2020. We will have next Thursday and Friday as backup days in the event of inclement weather. We want this to be a great experience for our seniors and can’t wait to celebrate next week!

Important Announcement
Team Fairview,
The Fairview Independent School District developed a Senior Focus Group to provide input into decision making related to the senior experience during this unprecedented time.
The group includes district and school leadership, staff class sponsors, educators, and current seniors.  The group has met regularly over the past month.
Student voice is important to us. In addition to seniors serving on the Senior Focus Group, all seniors have have had the opportunity to provide input through a Google Meet and a survey.
Safety continues to be our number one priority in planning for all activities, including those specific to our senior class. Reviewing and understanding guidelines developed by the Kentucky Department of Education in collaboration with the Governor's office and the Department of Public Health has been a large part of the work of the Senior Focus Group.
Several dates have been finalized.
A Senior Celebration parade has been scheduled for the last day of school, May 20, 2020. See additional information in the attached flyer.
The Graduation Ceremony for the 2020 graduating class of FHS is set at this time for July 2, 2020 at 8:00 PM at the football field. In the event of inclement weather, the second backup date is July 3, 2020 at 8:00 PM and the third backup date is July 5, 2020 at 8:00 PM. This will be a closed ceremony with all graduates present on the field along with a small group of school district staff members so that the total gathering is under 50. The graduation ceremony will be live streamed and available on social media with an opportunity for you to order a copy. The graduation ceremony will be projected on screens in the parking lot and parents and families will be able to watch the graduation ceremony while staying in their vehicles assigned to set spaces that are distanced. Each graduate will be allowed to have up to two vehicles present (8 passenger or smaller in size). Individuals are not allowed to exit their vehicle at anytime during this event on school district property.
In addition to the official graduation on July 2, 2020, we are planning individual graduation ceremonies for each of our graduating seniors so that family members can have a more intimate experience with their graduate. Graduates will be allowed to have up to four family members present for the individual graduation ceremony. These will be set up on a schedule throughout the day on Monday, June 29, 2020 and Tuesday, June 30, 2020.
The Senior Breakfast will be on July 1, 2020 and will be a closed event with only graduates present and a small group of school staff resulting in a group of less than 50. Graduates will also be involved in additional senior activities on July 1, 2020.
Many safety precautions including social distancing and PPE will be expected and enforced for participation in all of these events. Additional details regarding each of the events above will be shared closer to the middle of June with graduates and their families.
We are so proud of our graduating class of 2020 and although they cannot participate in the traditional experiences, we’re committed to giving them our best and celebrating the success of this huge accomplishment. From the students and educators serving on the Senior Focus Group so students can have a voice... to the parents and families who have been understanding throughout these challenging times... to the many educators in Fairview who are going above and beyond by delaying these experiences until later in the summer when groups of 50 or less can assemble... we are thankful for the opportunity to work with the Westwood community to show our graduating class of 2020 that #TeamFairview is made up of small schools, with BIG hearts!
